About Grillin-n-Chillin
Grillin-n-chillin
started out as an extension of two things that I
love to do. Nothing is as great as cooking outdoors. The fresh air, the smell of hickory smoldering in the pit, the taste of delicious foods hot off the grill. Mmmm-mmm. There's nothing like it. Be it a backyard dinner, a tailgate party or a relaxing day in the park, have grill, will
travel.
Simply
put, this site is my creative outlet for that
hobby. After all, a hobby isn't much fun if
you don't have anyone to share it with. And I'm
a pretty outgoing kind of guy.
So this
site is the channel that I use to share my
delights. Friends and relatives up in the
Northeast and in the Northwest check it
regularly to see what crazy concoction we've
created since their last visit. Though I haven't
found a great recipe for frogs legs or
gator tail yet, when I do, you'll find it
here.
Then,
something strange started happening. My
site started getting listed in the major search
engines. I started getting hits and emails from
people I didn't know. Don't get me wrong, I was
trying to get listed. My web host, Site Build
It!, showed me the ropes. They include a utility
that you put your pages through and it tells you
what to change to make the page more search
engine friendly. The technical term Search
Engine Optimization. Without it, you would
never have found my site.
So I
started testing the affiliate marketing
waters. That's the stuff that you see in
the left and right hand margins
of my pages. I partnered with Google and Amazon
to have them put content appropriate items in
those sections. After a bit, I started getting sales. Not
a lot mind you, but enough to get
me excited. The more traffic you have, the more
visibility you get, and the more potential to attract a
person that will actually turn into a customer.
Now I
have two favorite things to do. The first and
foremost is grilling. It's still my favorite
thing to do. But the second now is to try
unique and bazaar recipes with ingredients that
I usually never use. If it turns out that
it tastes good, I put it in my recipes section.
If not, at least the dog is happy.
Thankfully, I Hooked up wit
Site Build It! as my web hosting company.
I hope
you find this site informative, friendly and
entertaining. If you have any comments or have a
recipe that you'd like to share, don't hesitate
to email me at jim@grillin-n-chillin.com.
